The House
Casa Lascorz is a grand old Aragónese farmhouse dating back to 1801. Once an important farming estate, housing the family, local school teacher and farmworkers, the property was vacated in the late 1960s and remained empty until 2016 when it was purchased by your hosts, Ben and Corinna Frost.
The house has been lovingly and sympathetically brought back to life to provide both a welcoming rural guesthouse and a family home. The renovation has been a labour of love and we have taken care to preserve the traditional Aragónese architecture, features and furniture. Where original pieces could not be restored for their intended purpose, they have been re-purposed and incorporated into the décor, providing a unique historical narrative of the building’s past.
Casa Lascorz stands proud once again: balconies brimming with flowers; sunny terraces and cosy arches providing tranquil places to sit and read; thick stone walls emitting heat on a balmy evening; views to fill the soul with joy and if you stop and listen for a while….silence.
Credentials
Awarded ‘superior’ Casa Rural status in 2017, Casa Lascorz offers bright, spacious bedrooms all with modern en-suite bathrooms. Guests have access to a large terrace, garden and breakfast/sitting room complete with its traditional Aragónese chimney. A generous continental breakfast is served in the ‘cocina vieja’ each morning and packed lunches or evening meals can be ordered in advance.
Casa Lascorz also has good environmental credentials: all our heating and hot water is provided via a state-of-the-art biomass system; electricity is provided by Iberdrola, the top renewable energy producer in Europe; all the ’waste’ from the renovation project has been re-cycled and used in other areas of the property such as landscaping and terraces, whilst the majority of our fruit, vegetables and eggs are produced in the garden.
Your Hosts
After many years of dreaming about living near the mountains, renovating an old house and living a more self-sufficient lifestyle, 2016 heralded the start of a new life for us, your hosts Ben and Corinna.
Having sold our house in England, we packed up our belongings and pets and set off for our new home in the pretty village of La Pardina, in the foothills of the Spanish Pyrenees, to commence the task of renovating the ramshackle house. Despite the enormity of our task, we have enjoyed every second of living here. The area (Sobrarbe) provides the perfect backdrop to indulge our passions: beautiful scenery; outdoor activities; incredible wildlife and great food and wine and we can’t wait to share the secrets of this incredible place with you….
